Lockdown Valentine’s Day

9th February 2021

Lockdown Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and this year it lands on a Sunday. Possibly one of the most convenient occurrences of lockdown so far, would you agree? Without further ado, read on to discover our top lockdown-friendly Valentine’s Day ideas for the weekend; and for some, you won’t even have to leave the house!

Rise and Shine

Sundays are for breakfast in bed, let alone with the addition of Valentine’s Day. This could be a romantic gesture for your other half, a joint effort, or decided by a game of ‘rock, paper, scissors’ if you’re both fighting for that extra time in bed in the morning. Either way, heart-shaped toast, fruity pancakes or perfect eggs are a great way to kickstart a romantic day together.

Love Notes

Leave sticky notes around the house to surprise your loved one all day with happy memories, things you love about them, something you can’t wait to do when normality comes back around, and anything else you know will put a smile on their face. An inexpensive option and a great way to be thoughtful when resources are limited.

First Date

Whether it’s scrolling Netflix for the film you watched at the cinema all those years ago or cooking the same meals you ate on your first trip to a restaurant together – recreating your first date at home may be easier than you think! It’s a great way to reminisce on such a significant occasion and offers a chance to reflect on your journey so far.

Start a Scrapbook

Your Instagram grid may tell the story of your time together, but nothing says ‘I love you’ better than flicking through a precious collection of snaps and memoirs! You can use lots of free photo apps to get you started – so back-date your collation with photographs of key events, favourite holidays, and build up from there! Just think of the beautiful holidays to come and the idea of taking something home to add to your scrapbook. Dreamy…

Table for Two

Dining-in is the new dining-out! With lockdown upon us, it’s time to create your Valentines menu and head to the kitchen. Our menus list some incredible dishes which could inspire you this year, so why not take a look? If covid means you’ve missed out on a holiday, then creating a menu with a nod to the country you were planning to visit is a great way to make up missed memories.

A lockdown Valentine’s Day gives an opportunity to pay attention to what the day is really about – the person you love! So remember, whatever you do this year to celebrate the occasion, do it with love!
