How to Maximise Indoor Spaces in the Cooler Months

9th October 2019

You may feel that marrying in the cooler months confines you to indoor spaces, but what’s not to love when the indoor spaces are just as glorious as the outside?

We’re not too coy to tell you that you’ll find Dewsall Court listed in the top venues for autumn weddings by Hitched, Bridebook, Coco Weddings Venues and You and Your Wedding!

So if you’re looking to make the most of your autumn wedding, then you’re in the right place. Read on for some cosy wedding inspiration.

Lighting

For an autumnal celebration, lighting is transformative! The Wainhouse offers a canvas for you to recreate the golden tones of autumn inside through the use of swooping festoons, glittering fairy lights or twinkling candelabras. A banquet table bathed in soft candlelight will only add to the romance and elegance of your wedding feast.

Timings

Think carefully about your timings for the day and do consider that during autumn and winter months, the days are much shorter. If you’re marrying here at Dewsall, where we have so much in the way of beautiful gardens and grounds then you will want to make the most of the enchanting late afternoon light for photographs. If you choose to marry later in the day, there may be a chance that golden hour clashes with your wedding breakfast, which will add pressure neither you nor your photographer need.

Arrival Night

Your first night at Dewsall, and the night before your wedding, should be an intimate affair with just your closest friends and family. Seating 40, our conservatory offers a gorgeous backdrop for dinner, where shimmering reflections of candlelight dance at the windows, adding a wonderful warmth to the space.

Numbers

As you reach the end of autumn and winter starts to show itself, you might struggle to comfortably spend any time outside on your wedding day. If that’s the case, it is worth thinking about how many guests you’re planning to invite. Whilst you want your day to be intimate, the last thing anyone wants is for guests to feel over-warm or cramped. Outdoor space provides break-out areas for larger groups but when you are only using the indoor spaces, you need to ensure the space works for every aspect of your day.

Outside

And if you really cannot imagine a wedding without bringing a little of the great outdoors into it, there are plenty of ways to warmly enjoy our outdoor areas. On a crisp but sunny day a post-ceremony drinks reception outside is perfect. Simply serve seasonal treats such as mulled cider and a selection of warm canapes to keep guests cosy. Later into the night, the firepit cries out for toasted marshmallows and hot chocolate, sheepskin rugs and fluffy blankets.

We’re absolutely loving this season so far and cannot wait to see what other ideas couples bring to Dewsall this autumn. If you’re dreaming of an autumn wedding for 2020 do get in touch – we would love to book you in for a visit before this glorious season comes to an end.
