2020 Wedding Trends

20th December 2019

Welcome, 2020! A new year means new trends and hopefully, some of our absolute 2019 favourites will be sticking around a little longer too! This year is also a leap year, so will we see an increase in proposals from women? We can only wait and see. In our first blog of the year, we’re taking a look at some of this year’s predicted wedding trends.

Matte Black

This trend is all about understated elegance. We’re loving these softened blacks and charcoals, Scandi-inspired matte black candlesticks, rustic textured dinnerware and of course, a perfectly tied statement black napkin.

The trend is already filtering into wedding jewellery, with some wedding bands now made from black titanium and tungsten, symbolising strength and power, as well as eternal commitment.

Pearls

Pearls have been a statement wedding accessory for a very long time. With their timeless elegance and simplicity, how could they not be? However, this year’s pearls are having a little update! This natural gem will become statement, sassy and even edible! We’re expecting cakes delicately adorned with them, dresses layered with pearl-encrusted tulle and the oversized pearl earrings and headbands! We can’t wait!

Big Bouquets with Big Flowers

We can’t help but absolutely love the fact that bouquets are getting bigger and bigger each year. In 2019 we saw some amazing creations, works of art in fact, which accompanied our brides down the aisle. 2019 was the year of the fluffy peony, soft and gorgeous yet big and bold. There are few flowers which can match the dramatic beauty that this statement flower brings. We can’t wait to see more as this trend is set to continue throughout 2020!

Confetti Alternatives

Confetti has been thrown at celebrations since the middle ages, starting off in Italy as tiny sweets tossed into the air. We’ve watched as confetti has evolved into the cones of petals we know today, but if you’re not feeling dried flowers or biodegradable shapes of tissue paper, then we’re sure these new confetti trends will be music to your ears!

We’d like to introduce you to… ribbon wands! Not only is this trend amazing for our dear environment, but it also looks extremely pretty in photographs. They are available to purchase in mix-and-match colours of your choice, or are simple to make yourself if you want to add your own touch of personalised magic to your day. Shake it, baby!

Sustainability

Finally! Sustainability is becoming THE word to describe weddings. Nowadays, couples are definitely looking for ways to reduce the environmental and ethical impact of their wedding and with this, we expect to see an increase in ‘plastic-free’ weddings this year.

Suppliers have also become increasingly conscious and have made some significant positive changes, from foam-free florals and sourcing local produce to ethical fabrics and carbon calculations – everyone is nearly singing from the same song sheet and we could not be happier about it!

Vegan weddings are also set to increase this year, but we’ve always been way ahead of that curve and our vegan menus are divine! You can view them here.
